What makes clothing archival
We select every piece for its design, rarity, condition and relevance — not simply the name on its label. We look for distinctive design, exceptional construction and cultural relevance: pieces that defined a collection, captured an era or still feel impossible to ignore.
Not everything old is archival. Not everything rare is worth collecting.
How every piece is verified
Each piece is individually examined before it enters the Atelier. We review its construction, materials, labels, hardware, serial numbers, date codes and other identifying details where applicable, and compare it with its known production period and credible archival references. Original packaging, authenticity materials or purchase records are disclosed when available.
Every bag is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity issued by an independent third-party authentication service. Read more about authentication.
Provenance and condition
Authenticity tells you a piece is genuine; provenance tells you what is known about its history. Not every vintage piece retains a complete paper trail, and we will never invent one. Wear, alterations and restoration are assessed, photographed and disclosed on each listing. Our provenance standards.
